The following poem written by Fred Lunn appeared at the end of a book published by Hanover Housing Association in 1999 entitled Tale of the Century, a collection of various people's memories of the 1900's.

The Millennium, I wonder, what will it bring?
Peace to the world - to Britain a King.
Joy to the suffering, war to an end,
Freedom from pain on a road without bend.
Or will it depend on what we have to give
The way that we love or the lives that we live?
The more you give, the more you get,
The more you laugh, the less you fret
    The more you do unselfishly,
    The more you do abundantly.
The more of everything you share,
The more you'll always have to spare
The more you love, the more you'll find
That life is good and friends are kind.
For only what we give away
Enriches life from day to day.
