Vintage Worthing

Vintage WorthingVintage Worthing makes essential reading for those interested in Worthing's history, both onshore and offshore. It is the third of a trilogy of books written by Rob Blann to commemorate Worthing's involvement with lifeboats, the three volumes together forming an illustrated record of the town's seafaring community and much, much more. Details of the other two earlier books can be found on the inside back cover.

Using a central theme of Worthing's lifeboat service and the people involved, Vintage Worthing seeks to explore the social development and expansion of the town as well as providing a unique pictorial record of the era.

The book guides the reader through many notable and memorable events spanning thirty years from the start of the First World War to the end of the Second World War. It contains thirteen chapters, beautifully illustrated with 276 authentic period photographs, most of which are being published for the first time. It also includes numerous 'Then' and 'Now' photographs to demonstrate how lives and times have changed.

Part of the proceeds from this publication go towards the Children's Chestnut Hospice Appeal and also to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
