Patients in Gasometers - posted by Angelina
My grandmother swears blind that in the past, sickly or consumptive patients were taken into gasometers and instructed to breathe deeply to improve their conditions. She says this also took place where new roads were laid, and people thought that inhaling the tarmac fumes was good for the lungs.
Can anyone verify this? It seems ridiculous to me!
