I was there for my 21st birthday dinner in 1966. I was reminded of that because my twin grandsons are 21 this month. We were a group of 8 family members and we went to a matinee performance of the hit musical Oliver beforehand. An accordion player came around the tables playing requests. Hard to believe it only cost a guinea each for all you can eat. A guinea hasn’t been an active currency for 200 years but is still used in racehorse sales. It’s the equivalent of £1.05 today. I enjoyed this little piece of nostalgia - thank you for reading!
