Yellow/ white stone - posted by Cissie
Would like to know the history of yellow or white stone on cleaning stone door steps. Where it came from, is it still obtainable?

Hi
My mother always whitened our front door steps, mid 50s - 60s. It was creamy (like polish) and bought in a round, flat tin. Can't remember the brand name at the moment but it was to highlight the steps and stop people tripping on the stone. If you didn't whiten your steps you were considered not a very good housekeeper!
