This is the final chapter of Roy Green's Angmering memoirs penned in the form of an historical letter to his granddaughter Hannah.

I was asked to return to Crispa at Angmering to run the packing station there, and we returned in November 1979. For a time we lived in a smashing little bungalow belonging to my boss situated near the Roundstone Garden Centre. That's the place with Barny the singing bear that you liked so much.

It was from here that your mum Christine went into the R.A.F to train as a photographer and after nearly a year we moved to where we are today, at Angmering Way.

Your mum and dad married at St Margaret's Church, Angmering on 1st June 1965. Afterwards we had one heck of a party in the Angmering Village Hall. Your dad's family and his mates from the R.A.F were all there, and it was certainly a day to remember.

As your dad was posted around the country and to Germany, granny and myself went to their various houses for holidays. Best of all I think was our trip to Germany; it was both mine and granny's first trip abroad.

You were born in Barnstaple Hospital in North Devon on 6th July 1995. We were privileged to be there at the time. You have grown up and over the years you have brought a lot of love and fun into our lives.

Since living in Angmering Way, I was, after 27 years service, made redundant from Crispa. Mr Kahn, my boss, sold out to a firm called Hazlewoods Food, a large nationwide firm. They were only interested in stripping the firm's assets and selling the land for building.

Still, I suppose it did me a good turn in that I became a self employed decorator, and, although I say it myself, I have done some really interesting work since then. The most memorable and enjoyable job was working in the Portsmouth Dockyard, where I worked on the Victory museum and the Mary Rose gallery as well as many and various historic buildings there.

As you know both Doreen and myself are officially now retired, but we both keep working part time to earn some extra cash. Doreen in the nursing home Green Willows where you go to meet her from work sometimes, and me with any decorating jobs that come long.

Granny and me have been working on a family tree, trying to trace our ancestors back as far as possible. You will find details on my computer, and print-outs in the desk drawers. This will give you some idea how the families have evolved.

When you read this I will probably be in that great computer room in the sky. I hope someday perhaps your mum and dad will take you around some of the places I have written about, so that you can get an idea of how things were (in the dark ages).

Lots of love and kisses..

Grandad Roy.
