She is Becky Fairhurst. Her name was Becky Boyes, and the year was 1945 when she was born at Jackson Street, Manchester, in the pub called Jackson Street public house where her family lived and worked.

I remember being five years old in the pub on Jackson Street, and always talking to an old lady. I always assumed she was a guest but, according to my mother, there was no such person fitting that description staying at the inn at the time.

Later on in life I visited the pub, just to go back to my roots, and on doing so stories have unfolded about the mysterious woman. She is said to have been seen a few times.

I joined the army and served with the Queen's Lancashire Regiment in Cyprus and Germany.

But sadly, after serving in Germany for over 20 years I returned once again to Manchester, to discover that the pub had been pulled down and that houses had been built on the site.

Curiously though, there is one house that is said to be haunted. Could this be that same ghost of the mysterious woman ? ......... Or had it been my imagination as an over-active child imagination ? ...... Or was it real?

To me it is real and will always be one of my greatest childhood memories. This women always spoke to me, whereas my parents were always busy. She is what I refer to as my invisible nanny.
